Mic Modification - Transformer Swap in ACM Ribbon Mic
The Lundahl 2911 transformer runs about $70.
Notes
- I
was able to pry apart the grills with a little effort, perhaps a
hook or very small screwdriver would do the trick. they're just held in
by two metal tabs and tension.
- It's
really straightforward the stock transfomer is held in the metal
caninster which screws over the XLR mount. Two wires to the
motors and two to the XLR Plug.
- Issues
- In theory loosening the side screw on the Mount should loosen the
assembly for removal - this loosened it, but mine seems to
operration on just a minute amount of tension and the XLR assembly aint
coming out. So soldering the leads into the Pins is pretty
delicate.
- Also
of note, there are two unused threads, which would work
pefectly for mounting a small assembly to mount a transformer if the
cannister is not preferred. Print your own and use the 2912 PC mount
version.
